Reports that negotiations had hit a rough patch between Marvel and Sony broke in late August, as the two studios reportedly failed to come to a financial agreement that would ensure Spider-Man's continued role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With no agreement in place, the exclusive rights to the web-slinger will revert back to Sony Pictures, meaning Tom Holland can no longer play Spider-Man in the Disney-owned Marvel film franchise. At Varietys Entertainment and Technology summit last week, Sony Pictures chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra quashed fans' hopes even more. Vinciquerra stated that for the moment the door is closed in regard to Sony granting Disney the film rights to Spider-Man again.

Ugh, it's like Peter Parker is turning into dust all over again.

As Vinciquerra's comments continued, it seemed to become more clear that Sony Pictures was planning on capitalizing on the Spider-Man franchise in its own way. Vinciquerra emphasized that there is no ill will between Sony and Marvel, but Sony is still opting to regain its exclusive rights to double down on producing its own Spider-Man content following the recent success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Venom.

We had a great run with [Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige] on Spider-Man movies. We tried to see if theres a way to work it out... The Marvel people are terrific people, we have great respect for them, but on the other hand we have some pretty terrific people of our own. Kevin didnt do all the work... Spider-Man was fine before the event movies, did better with the event movies, and now that we have our own universe, he will play off the other characters as well. I think were pretty capable of doing what we have to do here.

Although Sony Pictures has not featured a live-action Spider-Man since Andrew Garfield last played the web-slinger in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the new developments could mean Sony may be looking to cast another Peter Parker for future movies. Since Sony is currently producing a sequel to 2018's Venom (which centers on characters in the Spider-Man universe), it is plausible that the studio may use Venom 2 to introduce a new version of Spider-Man.

Unfortunately, the non-deal throws a major wrench in Disney's plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Spider-Man: Far From Home set up Spider-Man to be a major player in its upcoming slate of movies and ended with a major cliffhanger that basically ensured a third Spider-Man movie was being planned. In my junior year of college, I was hooking up with someone who had the same name as my ex. I lost a lot of sleep thinking about what to call them and how to save their number in my phone (#millennials). It's been days since Hurricane Dorian left the Bahamas after hitting the islands on Sept. 1, but the devastating damage it has left behind is ongoing. In one attempt to assist survivors, independent boat companies have begun transporting evacuees to nearby Florida for temporary relief and access to water, groceries, and supplies. For some, however, even this small glimmer of hope quickly turned to disappointment when evacuating Bahamians were kicked off a ferry to the U.S. over reported complications about visa policies.

Brian Entin, an investigative reporter for WSVN News in Miami, broke the news after days of covering Freeport, Bahamas where hundreds of Bahamians were lining up on Sept. 8 to head to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Entin documented the situation as the crowd continued to grow, only to encounter a range of technical issues. The ferry sold out, people without internet access were asked to purchase tickets online, and no centralized source of information was available to keep them updated, he tweeted.

After making it onto the ferry, Entin posted a Twitter video which showed another obstacle: changing documentation requirements.A video captured an announcement telling anyone without a visa to get off the ferry. Passengers told Entin that they were previously told standard U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) rules which allows Bahamians without a visa to fly into the United States with a valid passport and no criminal record had been extended to boat travel.

In a statement to Elite Daily, a CBP spokesperson said the organization had "requested that the operator of the vessel coordinate with U.S. and Bahamian government officials in Nassau before departing the Bahamas. The statement continued,

Everyone who arrives to the United States from another country must present themselves to a CBP officer for inspection at an official CBP Port of Entry. All persons must possess valid identity and travel documents. CBP has a Preclearance operation in Nassau. CBP is committed to carrying out our duties with professionalism and efficiency facilitating lawful international travel and trade.

According to Entin, the ferry crew claimed they had been told passengers with passports and a copy of their police record would be allowed into the United States, but after they boarded the passengers, the crew was told people without visas would not be accepted. Rules posted on the CBP website note that Bahamian citizens may enter the United States without a visa if they are traveling by air through a CBP Pre-clearance Facility. On Sept. 7, over 1,000 evacuees arrived safely in Florida on a free cruise ship voyage, per Reuters. Officials reportedly checked their passport and visa documents before they boarded the ship.

One CBP officer in Florida told Entin that removing passengers was a business decision made by the ferry company considering the evacuees would have been processed with visas or not once they arrived in the United States. If they had done that with us and worked with us we would have been there to facilitate that process. However, they didnt, another officer said. Why they said that, I wouldnt know, and its really heartbreaking. Elite Daily reached out to Balearia Caribbean, the ferry operator, for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

Dorian, which first made landfall in the Bahamas on Sept. 2 as a Category 5 hurricane, hovered over the country for days before heading toward the U.S. coast. The most recent reports estimate at least 44 people have died, with countless others missing. Dorian ravaged entire communities to wooden debris and have left homes and hospitals without water, electricity and internet.

Democratic presidential candidates soon began to weigh in. On Sept. 8, Former Rep. Beto ORourke called the reports the height of cruelty denying help to those who need it most. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julin Castro also brought the president into the equation and tweeted on Sept. 9, Instead of providing protection and assistance to the victims of Hurricane Dorian, the President has chosen to ignore their needs and deny their entry. The immigration advocacy group Familes Belong Together called the reports reprehensible.

The evacuees reportedly intended to go grocery shopping and load up on supplies before returning, according to tweets from Entin, but now they may not even be able to do that. In the meantime, here are small ways you can help and give to the Bahamas as the country begins recovering from the tragedy.

The last couple of years on television have seen the rise of female voices and producers fighting to be heard. TV made by women is bigger than ever, from Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman banding together to produce Big Little Lies, to Leslye Headland, Amy Poehler, and Natasha Lyonne creating Russian Doll. This has been especially true of the works from Phoebe Waller-Bridge, whose breakout Killing Eve scored historic Emmy nominations last year. But this year is all about Fleabag, the show that got her started. So where can you stream Fleabag ahead of awards season this year? It's all on Amazon.

Killing Eve may have broken into the mainstream first in 2018, but before that Waller-Bridge was starring in another comedy, one she wrote for herself. Called Fleabag, the show began as an extension of Waller-Bridge's stand up act, which morphed into a one-woman play. After taking it to the 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it won the Fringe First Award, she developed it into a TV series which was picked up by the online-only BBC Three and Amazon Studios.

The first season came out in 2016. Though critically lauded, it made few waves in America. But in a post-Killing Eve world, and a few tweaks towards a less depressing ending, Fleabag Season 2 is finally getting the recognition the series deserves.

So what is Fleabag about? Season 1 begins with meeting her in the middle of sex with a guy she's dubbed "Arsehole Guy." Not because he's a terrible person, but because that's the way he prefers it in the sack. In short order, we learn about the disaster of her life. Her boyfriend's left her, she and her sister, Claire (Sian Clifford), don't get along. Worse, Claire's husband, Martin, is trying to sleep with her instead of Claire, and there's no one she can turn to about it. Her mother is dead, and her father is living with their former-Godmother (Olivia Colman) who is cold and abusive.

Meanwhile, Fleabag (she has no other name) is about to lose the cafe that she opened with her now-deceased BFF. (BFF walked into traffic because her boyfriend was unfaithful.)

Though the show is a comedy, it's an uncomfortable one, from Godmother's abuse of Fleabag to Claire's awful husband's sexual come-on. Then there's the mystery of why Fleabag's BFF reacted so drastically to her boyfriend cheating. The end of Season 1 solves that, but it's a terrible answer.

Fleabag Season 2, however, things are looking up. Not with Godmother or Claire's husband, mind you. But Fleabag finds love of a sort, in the most unexpected place: The Church, and the man known only as "Hot Priest."

The resulting love story garnered the show 11 Emmy nominations, including five acting nods. There's Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy for Waller-Bridge. There's two for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy, one for Sian Clifford as Claire and the other for Olivia Colman as Godmother. Plus, there are two outstanding Guest Actress nods for Kristin Scott Thomas and Fiona Shaw.

You've probably had it: A big, nasty fight with your significant other that cracked open the Pandora's box of hidden feelings and possible old resentments. But social media doesn't show everything and that's where Keeping Up With The Kardashians comes in. Since KUWTK premiered in 2007, nothing has been off limits for the Kardashian family on the show. Fans have seen the family go through everything, including cheating boyfriends, fertility struggles, and friendship breakups. The Kardashian family always keeps it real and maybe that's why the show has lasted for over a decade. Well, season 17 of KUWTK just premiered and the episode revealed some new info about Kim Kardashian's health. The video of Kim Kardashian finding out she tested positive for lupus antibodies is so heartbreaking.

My heart seriously aches for Kim Kardashian. Finding out test results is always so scary, and the fact that cameras were surrounding Kim during such a personal moment must have added to her nerves. I give Kim props for being so real with her viewers because I know it must have taken a lot for her to be able to share the results on TV.

The emotional episode was for KUWTK's season 17 premiere, which aired on Sunday, Sept. 8. In the episode, Kim felt that something was seriously wrong with her because she woke up and her hands were swollen.

Ive been feeling so tired, so nauseous and my hands are really getting swollen. I feel like I literally am falling apart. My hands are numb," she said.

Although Kim's had carpal tunnel syndrome, she felt this time her pain was different. Lately, my wrists are starting to hurt again but its definitely a different feeling, she said. I feel this in my bones. Its starting to really worry me. I really have to look into this.

Kim did some research and thought she might have rheumatoid arthritis due to her symptoms. According to Healthline, rheumatoid arthritis is "an autoimmune disease that can cause joint pain and damage throughout your body." Because Kim couldn't stand waiting around, she decided to go see a doctor to see if she was right.

In a clip from the show, Kim shared her thoughts about what was going through her mind. She said, "I'm just like freaking out. I have a baby on the way. I have law school. It just can really scare you when you start really thinking about how much this is gonna really change my life."

Kim went to the doctor and also had some blood tests done. By the end of the episode, Kim got a call from her doctor, who said her antibodies tested positive for lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.

The doctor explained this meant that apart from having swollen joints, Kim would have "fevers, rashes, mouth sores" and would feel "really tired."

Of course, hearing this made Kim emotional, but the doctor said there was a chance Kim's results were false positives, so Kim scheduled a follow-up appointment with her doctor to find out if she really had lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. I'm guessing fans will know the results on the next episode of KUWTK.

This is so sad and I wish Kim all the best whatever those results may be.

The year 2019 has ended a lot of strong relationships, but get ready for the biggest plot twist yet. According to a Monday, Sept. 12 report from The Anchorage Daily News, Sarah and Todd Palin are divorcing. Elite Daily reached out to representatives of both Sarah and Todd Palin for comment or confirmation on the reports, but did not immediately hear back. Here lies yet another strong relationship.

On Monday, Sept. 12, Alaskan newspaper The Anchorage Daily reported that Todd Palin has filed for divorce from former Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska. They have been together for 31 years. According to Anchorage Daily, Todd Palin filed for divorce on Friday, Sept. 6 in Anchorage Supreme Court, where he reportedly cited "incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife" as reason for the separation. The couple has five children all together, but four are adults. Seeing as their youngest child is a minor, Anchorage Daily reports that Todd Palin's divorce filing asks for joint legal custody of their son.

The Palin family gained notoriety in 2008, when the Alaska governor ran as John McCain's vice presidential nominee during the 2008 presidential election against President Barack Obama. The Palin family often appeared at interviews and press events together, holding each others hands through the whole process. However, Palin and McCain lost the election to President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in 2008. Not shortly after, Palin resigned as governor of Alaska in 2009.

News of the couple's separation is probably shocking to most, especially seeing as the two were high school sweethearts while attending Wasilla High School. They eventually eloped in 1988 and the Palin dynamic duo was born. Seriously, that's the kind of stuff you read about in young adult romance novels. Twilight, eat your heart out.

Hey, relationships sometimes don't work out. It happens. However, the Palin family apparently had big future plans ahead before things reportedly were derailed. In September 2018, both Todd and Sarah Palin spoke to The Daily Mail about apparent plans to move out of their hometown Wasilla, Alaska, with their family. According to the former governor, she and her husband wanted to "do more" now that their kids are growing up. She said,

We're not going to be holed up in Wasilla, Alaska, the rest of our life. We both feel that in our bones. This is always our home, but we're ready to bust out and do a lot more even than what we're doing now especially with the kids getting older, and things are getting easier in terms of travel and logistics.

Sarah Palin also insinuated that Todd has been pushing for a change of scenery for a while. "He's more driven than I am to bust out and get some things done," Palin told The Daily Mail.

Well, I guess change is on the horizon for these two just maybe not in the way they would have hoped. Even if reports claim that the couple is separating, they certainly made a strong team while it lasted.

One of the biggest red flags I keep an eye on during a first date is someone saying they've just gotten out of a long-term relationship. It's not an automatic dealbreaker, as we all have a past, and if you want to focus on the positive it means this person is capable of commitment, which... yay! But it can also mean that this person is still healing from a breakup. So, if you like them and want to keep things going, having an idea of the early signs youre someones rebound is a great way to guard your heart, while still exploring if your connection with this person has the potential to last.

The good news is that, according to licensed mental health counselor Michelle Henderson, there are often some early warning signs that your relationship is of the rebound variety. "Sometimes, there can be obvious signs that you're someone's rebound if they talk about their ex frequently or if they say they're not ready for a serious relationship because they just got out of one," she tells Elite Daily. However, Henderson does warn that sometimes those signs can be a bit more subtle, especially if the person you are dating isn't totally aware that they are still healing from their last relationship. "They may think they are ready to get back into dating without acknowledging that they haven't fully healed from their last relationship. This can make it tricky to know if you're someone's rebound because they may not realize that they're rebounding in the first place," she explains.

With that in mind, here is what the experts say to be on the lookout for, in terms of both obvious signs and more covert ones, that mean you could be in a rebound relationship.

1. They Talk About Their Ex All The Time.

Do you find that the topic of your current flame's ex just keeps coming up? If so, Trina Leckie, breakup coach and host of the Breakup BOOST podcast, tells Elite Daily to take note. [It] shows they are constantly thinking about them, she says, which in turn likely means they are still getting over the split and could be rebounding to deal with it.

3. They Are Still Connected To Their Ex On Social Media.

Does the specter of the ex persist on social media because your partner still follows their every move online? If so, consider that a not-so-subtle sign something is amiss, says Leckie. [It] shows they cant move on and arent quite ready to let go, she warns.

5. They Tell You They Arent Ready For Another Relationship.

The clearest sign that the relationship is a rebound, Henderson says, may be the most overt of all... but also one that many of us are guilty of ignoring, particularly if we really like the person. Thats when they tell you straight-up that they aren't ready for anything serious. This means that they are still trying to emotionally recover from the breakup they just went through and may not be ready to fully invest in someone else, she explains. In other words, if they tell you they arent ready, believe them.

While knowing that someone is on the rebound right away is super helpful, since it can help you safeguard your heart, what if youre coming to this realization when youre already emotionally invested? Leckie says your best bet is to take a beat and create some emotional distance. Its best to take a step back and give them room to heal, or else you could just end up going along for the ride and get hurt in the process, she warns.

Henderson agrees. If you realize you're someone's rebound, name the specific things you've heard them say or seen them do that indicated this to you. Hopefully they can acknowledge that they may not be as ready as they thought they were for another relationship and things can end mutually and on a good note. You deserve someone who is with you for who you are, not because you're a rebound from someone else, she concludes.

While that may sound very dire, remember that these are just signs and does not guarantee that your relationship is a rebound, so don't panic if one or more of these occur. Instead, consider just taking in the information and talking with your partner about it. Trust your heart and your gut, and do what feels right for you.

The seventh and final season of Orange is the New Black expanded the world of the show beyond the prison system to also highlight the poignant topic of immigration in the United States. At the end of Season 6, Laura Gmez's character Blanca Flores was moved from Litchfield Penitentiary to an ICE detention center, giving the following season the opportunity to highlight the reality for thousands of people in the United States. And while her character went through one type of immigrant experience on the show, Gmez has been amplifying the voices of real-life immigrants like herself through social media. Laura Gmez tells real-life immigrants' stories on-screen and off, and she sat down with Elite Daily to talk all about it.

In Season 7 of the hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black, Blanca served as the audience's window into the experience of detained immigrants. It's something that is very real for a growing number of people in the United States, and the subject is particularly impactful for Gmez, since she is an American immigrant from the Dominican Republic herself.

"I felt, in a way, it was an interesting way of working around my anxieties at the moment," Gmez tells Elite Daily. "This is affecting us one way or another. I thought it was a wonderful way for me to canonize all this and to find a place to put it. And we all knew we had a big responsibility. And both the showrunners and the writers were giving us an opportunity to make an impact and we took that very seriously. And I took it very seriously with Blanca."

I felt this could be my way of humanizing us and giving a little profile of a journey of an immigrant and a positive impact in American society.

Partly inspired by her work on Orange is the New Black, Gmez wanted to reach out to her audience to tell more immigrant stories. Only, instead of talking about fictional characters, she wanted to highlight the experiences of real-life immigrants like herself and the people she knows and loves. Now, Gmez's posts on Instagram using the hashtag #ImmigrantStoriesByLauraGomez have become her collection of profiles on real-life immigrants.

"I just had a feeling that this was a way to use my platform, which has been amplified by this show to comment on positive aspects of immigrants, they way I know it, the way I experience it," Gmez explains. "I felt this could be my way of humanizing us and giving a little profile of a journey of an immigrant and a positive impact in American society."

In each post highlighting an immigrant to America, Gmez includes a photo and blurb detailing the person's accomplishments. She's included actors, LGBTQ activists, novelists, musicians, entrepreneurs, and more. One of her most memorable posts was her friend's 11-year-old son Amaru, who competed in the National Spelling Bee.

"I just find him very inspiring because he is in that generation that could actually make an impact on the future. Generation Z will have a much more tolerant view of the world. For me, he represents hope," Gmez says.

Right now, each immigrant story is from someone who Gmez knows personally, but she says the project might expand to other people at some point in the future. No matter what, though, she plans to continue to use storytelling as a tool to bring people together and help foster empathy.

Now that Orange is the New Black is over, Gmez is focusing her professional energy on writing and directing her own work, including an original screenplay based on a play she wrote. She's also part of a women's writer's group that "has been a wonderful space to remember how important it is for women and people of color to also tell our stories." And through it all, Gmez will continue to share #ImmigrantStoriesByLauraGomez, to make sure the positive immigrant experience is amplified.

When I think of celebs who aren't afraid to challenge beauty norms and rock their own personal style to the fullest, Kristen Stewart is always one of the names that comes to mind. Ben Platt's career is about to take a massive jump from the stage to the screen. The actor and singer is already a household name among Broadway fans for his starring role in the breakout musical Dear Evan Hansen. But Ryan Murphy's The Politician is going to take him to the next level. The hit-making producer behind American Horror Story's new show is his first to stream on Netflix. Platt's turn in the lead role is going to put him front and center for millions of households. Now, a Ben Platt Concert Special is coming to Netflix as well, promising that viewers will also get to know him for his music.

The Politician isn't Platt's first screen role. Before landing Dear Evan Hansen, Platt was in the Pitch Perfect films as Benji Applebaum. But it is his first lead role, and from the trailers, his part as Payton Hobart is going to be a break out one. In it, Platt plays a rich kid from Santa Barbara who dreams one day of becoming President of the United States. He is running for student body president as his first step towards climbing the ladder to election success.

But though Barbra Streisand was once attached to the project, it's not a musical. So Netflix is remedying that by giving the actor his own concert special.

For fans who might not be aware yet, Platt dropped his debut album earlier in 2019. Entitled Sing to Me Instead, it lead off with two lead singles, "Bad Habit" and "Ease My Mind." It peaked here on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at Number 18. But it may shoot back up again if the Netflix special has any say about it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news:

Ahead of the launch of his show The Politician later this month, the streaming service is announcing a concert special with the actor-singer. The feature-length special will document the final stop on Platt's debut tour, and be filmed live from his sold-out show at Radio City Music Hall on Sept. 29. An airdate and title for the special have yet to be determined.

As for the songs fans can expect to hear:

Platt, who is a Tony, Emmy, and Grammy winner, will perform songs at the concert from his debut album Sing to Me Instead and his recent single 'RAIN', as well as a few covers.

In a statement, Platt said he couldn't wait to share the special with his fans.

Live performance has always been my greatest love its where I feel like the truest version of myself. I cannot wait to share my music and my stories at this iconic venue in my favorite city, and Im thrilled that this special moment will be immortalized for a wider audience. In addition to The Politician, Platt has also been cast in Richard Linklater's adaption of the Stephen Sondheim musical Merrily We Roll Along, which will be filmed over 20 years.
