Dairy Queen’s Ice Cream Pizza Pies Are Back, So It’s Basically The ’90s Again

Listen up, ’90s babies. It’s time to indulge in a dessert that once thrived during our childhood, because it’s back again and better than EVER.

I’m talking about the infamous “Treatzza Pizza,” better known as Dairy Queen’s ice cream pizza pie dowsed in chocolate drizzles, candy, and soft serve. It’s basically the sweetest pizza pie we’ve ever tasted, and it’s finally back on the DQ menu.

The first versions of the chocolatey pizza pies initially hit the menu in 1995, and remained there until 2008, Cosmopolitan reports.

The retro Treatzza Pizzas looked like this:

As you can see, the “cool treat” once included fudge, chocolate crunch, soft serve, and a choice of four different topping combinations. It looks delicious, right?

After the pizzas were re-released in Dairy Queen stores on May 22, even more tasty flavors became available. The new choices include Reese Peanut Butter Cups, M&M, Choco’ Brownie, and Heath.

Take another look and try not to feel too nostalgic.

Dairy Queen

Apparently, people on Twitter are super hyped about the comeback of the Treatzza Pizza, and we definitely can’t blame them.

“This is not a drill.”

Must. Eat. Now.

They can hardly contain their excitement.

As you can see, Treatzza Pizzas are kind of a big deal.

If you’re wondering how the glorious pizza pie is made, have no fear. The Daily Meal dissected its ingredients for us, and we’re finally able to visualize what made our favorite childhood dessert so freakin’ desirable.

Apparently, the crust of a Treatzza Pizza is made from fudge cookie crunch that’s covered in vanilla soft serve. Then, the pizza is covered in candy toppings that depend on which flavor you order (I’m all about the Heath).

In addition to the Treatzza Pizza, Dairy Queen also added another throwback to their menu: the Misty Slush.

Barry Westrum, executive vice president of marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation, talked to The Daily Meal and said,

There is an obvious resurgence in everything ’90s and both Treatzza Pizza and Misty Slush were fan favorites from that era. Those two treats were loved by fans from day one. They asked us to bring them back and we delivered.

As a ’90s kid, I totally respect DQ’s decision to bring back the frozen treats we grew up with.

Thank you, Dairy Queen. You truly delivered.

Taco Bell Is Giving Away Free Tacos This Month And Here’s How You Can Win One

Guys, it looks like June is about to be the best month of the year.

Why? Because Taco Bell will be giving away free tacos this month as part of its “Steal a Game, Steal a Taco” promotion, and we can barely contain our excitement. (We love tacos.)

The dreamy promotion is returning for a second year of free tacos on Thursday, June 1, and will allow Taco Bell customers to indulge in savory Doritos Locos Tacos for no cost at all.

But, of course, there’s a catch.

In order to know whether or not you’ll be able to score a free Doritos Locos Taco, you’ll have to watch basketball. If you’re anything like me, watching basketball is the equivalent of watching paint dry, but bear with me.

The promotion revolves heavily around the NBA Finals, and you’ll have to pay close attention to the scores (this doesn’t mean you have to sit through the entire game, right?).

According to Delish, Taco Bell will be dishing out the free tacos on Tuesday, June 13 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. if any away team wins games 1 to 3. (Cross your fingers an away team pulls through for us.)

I can almost smell the tacos.

However, if an away team doesn’t win and we aren’t granted free Taco Bell on June 13, we’ll have another chance to indulge the following week.

Similarly, if an away team wins any games from 4 to 7, Taco Bell will give away free Doritios Locos Tacos on Tuesday, June 20.

If you’re confused and don’t care about basketball or scores (I’m with you), just cheer for the away teams and hope they win so you can order a free taco at your nearest TB.

The NBA Finals begin Thursday, June 1, so keep yourself in the basketball hoop (I mean, loop) if you want to order a free taco or two this month.

Oreo Cereal Is Coming Back This Month And We Can’t Wait To Relive Our Childhood

There’s nothing I enjoyed more as a kid than waking up in the morning and pouring myself a gigantic bowl of Oreo O’s cereal.

I mean, not much has changed since then. I still start most of my mornings off with a bowl of cereal, but since the infamous Oreo O’s were discontinued in 2007, I’ve had to resort to other options that definitely aren’t as chocolatey.

Luckily, Oreo O’s are making a comeback this month and we’ll finally be able to relive our favorite childhood breakfast again.

I’M SO EXCITED.

The tasty Oreo-flavored cereal initially hit the market in 1998, but was discontinued in 2007 and became unavailable everywhere except South Korea.

It was devastating, trust me. The lack of Oreos in my morning routine really threw me for a loop.

Thankfully, Oreo O’s will hit the shelves again on June 10, and we’ll be able to indulge in our favorite cookie-flavored cereal once more.

In case you missed the Oreo O’s craze when you were younger (I’m so, so sorry if you did), rest assured this cereal does every Oreo justice. The chocolatey-oat pieces contain real Oreo cookie bits and are covered in a sweet cream coating.

Believe me, you’re going to have trouble trying not to pour a second bowl.

Post

A spokesperson embellished on the sweet breakfast treat in a statement, and said,

Fans of the iconic Oreo O’s cereal will find the product has stayed true to its roots, with Oreo cookie bits and a crème coating combined to make the chocolatey, crunchy O’s that can be enjoyed in a bowl with milk, or straight out of the box any time of day!

They aren’t lying — eating them right out of the box is just as delicious, and I’m definitely guilty of doing it in the past.

If you’re just as excited as we are, be sure pick a store near you to buy a box of Oreo O’s when they’re released.

You can use Post’s store locater here.

Oreo Released A New Flavor To Help You Celebrate National Doughnut Day

June 2 is National Doughnut Day and Oreo really wants to help you celebrate.

I mean, what better way to celebrate a day dedicated to doughnuts than with… cookies. Right?

OK, let me explain. Oreo just released a new flavor (yes, another one) and it combines the best of both worlds: the flavor of a jelly doughnut with your favorite cream-filled Oreo cookie.

Package of Oreo Jelly Donut flavor

OREO

The new Jelly Donut flavor — which is exclusive to Walmart stores and available this weekend– features a Golden Oreo cookie, raspberry center, and custard outer ring for a taste so delicious you’ll keep snacking on them way past today.

But in case you aren’t really a jelly doughnut kind of snacker (really?), there’s no need to worry.

Oreo is having a very busy summer flavor-wise. Last month, the brand released the limited-edition Firework Oreos, which you should probably stock up on seeing as the Fourth of July is right around the corner.

Package of Firework flavored Oreos

OREO

Then, a couple weeks ago, we learned Oreo is bringing back a fan-favorite from last summer: Blueberry Pie!

The new Jelly Donut flavor is just another sweet addition to an extensive list of crazy concoctions cooked up by the tastemakers at Nabisco.

I mean there’s already been Strawberry Shortcake, Fruity Crisp, Cinnamon Bun, and Swedish Fish flavors — just to name a few.

If you’re thinking, “What will they possibly think of next?” you should really turn around and ask yourself because Oreo wants to put you in charge.

From now until July 14 you can enter the #MyOreoCreation contest for your chance to choose a new flavor that will actually appear in stores in 2018.

All you need to do is submit your ideas through Twitter or Instagram using #MyOreoCreation and #Contest.

PS. The winner also gets $500,000 and VIP access to upcoming releases and top-secret prototypes, so that’s A LOT of incentive.

Happy National Doughnut Day, everybody!

Dreamy Avocado Art Exists And It’s So Beautiful You’ll Never Want To Eat It

Avocados are beautiful in any form, whether they’re spread on toast (we’re not too picky), transformed into a rose, or served as an eggocado during brunch.

One artist, however, is taking our favorite fruit to the next level. A quick peek at his gorgeous avocado art will leave you so impressed, you won’t be able to eat your afternoon snack.

Daniel Barresi is an award-winning carving artist from Australia, so if you ever find yourself Down Under, let the king of the knife carve his way into your heart with his creations, like this baby below.

Have you ever seen a fruit so majestic? I was pretty impressed with my avocado toast from Le Pain Quotidien, but clearly, I was missing out on the creativity. This completely blew my avocado pick-me-up right out of the water.

Does this ever happen after you’re done prepping lunch? No? Me either, my friend — no hard feelings.

All of this delightful #avocadoart is part of an avocado art show, according to Cosmopolitan, and it’s exactly what we need in our museums, if you ask me. (I hope curators are taking notes.)

Naturally, avocados — the basis for our beloved guacamole, aka the sole reason we’ll shell out $2 for a fruit — have gotten the attention of the internet.

It’s not uncommon for other #avocadoart to pop up on social media.

Have a look at the green goodness and feel inspired.

Apparently, Daniel Barresi created his beautiful avocado art for The Avocado Show in Amsterdam. Stop by their shop if love avocados as much as the rest of us!

Reddit users are losing their minds over this phenomenon.

We can’t say we blame these people for going bananas over the #avocadoart. The high-protein fruit that abounds with benefits — high protein, a healthy substitute for butter, hair and skin perks — is not only good for us, but good for us to look at, too.

8 Things You’ll Only Understand If Your First Job Was In Food Service

$
0
0

We all remember our first job. Whether it was lifeguarding at the beach or scooping rum raisin at the local ice cream shop, the experience was filled with laughs, long days and plenty of life lessons.

And if your first job happened to be in food service, you can relate to all of this PLUS a million other little quirks that are totally specific to the industry.

It’s difficult to say if it’s the customers or maybe something in the kitchen, but when you work behind a counter you can expect an experience like no other.

And, at the end of the day, this industry has the potential to give you the skills and insights that it takes most people a lifetime to learn.

Here are eight things you’ll only understand if your first job was in food service.

1. Your co-workers will be your BFFs.

There’s something about working in food service that accelerates the time it usually takes to bond with someone. Maybe it’s the customers or the nonstop collaboration that the job requires, but your co-workers will feel like friends (and maybe even family) before you know it.

2. Comfort wins over fashion every time.

Your first day on the job will go down in history as the day you officially stop caring about stylish shoes. From here on out, it’ll be ALL about comfort, arch support and that unrivaled non-slip grip.

Pro-tip: French fries are the banana peels of the food service industry – you’re bound to slip on one if you don’t take the proper precautions!

3. You’ll gain a new appreciation for food service workers.

A job in food service will give you a fierce appreciation for the other people who work in the industry. Once you’ve seen the other side, you can’t help but notice the work ethic and positivity that most food service workers exhibit.

And you’ll find yourself showing that gratitude in every possible form — for the rest of your days.

4. You can morph into a human change calculator at a moment’s notice.

Sure, you have a register that can do the work for you, but your job will make you develop a certain finesse when it comes to doing math in your head. Making change becomes a game you play with yourself, and you get a little thrill when someone asks you to break a 50-dollar bill.

It’s the little things, ya know?

5. You’ll get to know the regulars…and their orders.

Everyone who works in food service knows that regular customers are one of the best parts of the job. It’s always nice to see a familiar face, AND it gives you a chance to show off your psychic (read: memory) skills.

There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a regular walk through the door and rattling off her go-to order of a Big Mac® sandwich (extra pickles!), fries and a McFlurry® dessert before she even has a chance to say “hello.”

6. Being busy is bae.

Most people dream of having a slow day at the office. But those who work in food service experience a very different phenomenon: A constant flow of customers means that time flies, which makes for a better (read: quicker) shift.

7. Your memory is way better than you think it is.

It’s not until you have to remember dinner orders for a family of seven (with about a million add-ons and allergies) that you realize the true potential of the human brain.

Seriously, in an era when most people can’t even remember a phone number, food service employees rival stage actors with their memorization abilities.

8. You learn way more than just how to work a register.

Sure, you’ll be a whiz at making exact change and you could prepare a complicated order with your eyes closed, but working in food service will teach you so much more than just those skills. Collaborating with co-workers, management and customers not only gives you an unparalleled ability to problem-solve, but also turns you into a communication pro.

And since these skills are prerequisites for basically every job in existence, starting off in food service really does prepare you for it all.

Savory Pizza-Flavored Ice Cream Exists And We Aren't Sure How To Feel About It

In my book, tomato, basil, oregano, salt, and garlic make for a great slice of pizza, but when those ingredients are in a scoop of ice cream, well… that's another story.

We are living in creative times, folks. People sip lattes out of avocados and bathe with pizza-scented bath soaps, so it should really come as no surprise pizza-flavored ice cream is the latest trend to take over and leave us simultaneously amazed and puzzled.

Have a look at the savory scoop for yourself.

Little Baby's Ice Cream in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has decided to combine our favorite dinner and dessert so we can have the best of both worlds in one sitting.

The shop recently took to Instagram and Facebook to post a cryptic-sounding message: “Pizza: A Total Suitable Dinner. Pizza Ice Cream: ________.”

This is one big Italian food mind game if you ask me.

Some people are so gung-ho about this inventive masterpiece that they decided to forgo cheese and pepper flakes on their pizza and opted for the pizza-flavored ice cream on top of their slice instead.

Now that is certainly one way to get creative with your dinner.

We have to hand it to Little Baby's for its uniqueness. With flavors like pizza, lime-toasted coconut, balsamic banana, and everything bagel, this is definitely a step away from the usual chocolate and vanilla sundae.

However, if you're a fan of the cheesy dinner but you're somewhat hesitant to get a scoop of your own pizza-flavored ice cream, there are many other ways you can harness the love you have for a slice.

You can get a dose of magic with a slice of rainbow unicorn pizza, indulge in a meatzza pie, ask this young designer to make you a pizza dress of your own, or bathe in the lovely scent of tomatoes and garlic with these bath powders.

So many pizza options, so little time.

9 Delicious Breakfasts You Can Easily Prepare At Your Work Desk

I grew up in a household where Sunday breakfast was a big deal.

Like, Irish-family-big-deal.

Stemming from our European heritage, my mother's upbringing continued with mine, bringing us eggs, breakfast meats, bakery rolls, donuts, orange juice, coffee, or tea to a sit-down meal every weekend with my parents, sisters, and brother.

Maybe it's the emotional connection I have to breakfast, but I'll never miss the meal if I can help it. Not only can it make or break your day, breakfast foods are just the absolute best morning, noon, and night.

Unfortunately, working a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. job doesn't always allow for a hearty breakfast at home, especially when you're juggling a shower, cosmetics, and commute time.

Don't sacrifice a well-balanced meal for on-the-go bars or other store-bought options that hardly offer any nutritional value.

Instead, give these nine recipes a try for simple meals you can make overnight or construct at your desk.

1. Loaded Sweet Potato

Lazy Girl's Guide To Eating Healthier

I've recently mastered the art of cooking sweet potato in the microwave, and I assure you, it will change your life for the better.

Back in college, I tried cooking potatoes in the microwave multiple times, and it never ended well.

The first went up in flames (I pierced it with a fork, I swear), and a dark cloud of angry smoke stank up the entire apartment. My apologies (again), roomies.

The second never made it past one minute of heat time because I became so nervous I just threw it out and made myself a sandwich.

However, I am now a married woman, and I've been picking up a few cooking hacks, courtesy of Pinterest and YouTube.

The trick to cooking a sweet potato in the microwave is actually very simple.

Cut your sweet potato in half or into coins, and wrap it in paper towel. Cook for five minutes, then turn pieces onto the opposite side for anywhere from two to five minutes more.

Bring toppings to work in a baggie to load onto your potato, such as coconut flakes, granola, trail mix, and individual nut butter packets.

2. Frozen Smoothie

Smoothie bowls are all over social media right now, but you don't have to be a work-from-home Instagram Influencer to indulge in all that fruity goodness first thing in the morning.

Prep your frozen smoothie the night before by whipping it up as soon as you get home from work, and storing it in your to-go cup in the freezer.

Right before you go to sleep, transfer the frozen smoothie into the refrigerator. By the time you're ready to head out the next morning, your smoothie should be at a solid consistency you can spoon into.

Fill a plastic baggie with toppings of your choice, load them on at the office, and snap that Insta photo.

3. Yogurt Parfait

Another personal favorite, yogurt parfaits are one of the easiest meals to throw together at the office.

All you'll need is one container of yogurt, a banana, and granola or dry cereal.

Cut up slices, and sprinkle on the crunchy clusters as you see fit, or bring a bowl to the office, and compile like a traditional parfait.

The variety of flavors is sure to satisfy all the taste buds.

4. Overnight Oats

Ridiculous Body Trends Demonstrated Through Food

Oatmeal is a staple office pick, no matter what season it is, because this treat can be eaten hot or cold.

While this option isn't necessarily “new,” people have gotten mighty creative with flavor combinations and toppings. But we'll stick to the basics for now.

Mix half a cup of oats with one cup of the liquid base of your choosing (water, milk, almond milk, etc.). Add a pinch of salt and a tablespoon of natural sweetener, like honey or maple syrup, and leave it in the fridge to set overnight.

The oats will absorb the liquid base, and leave you with a full bowl of fluffy carbs.

If you want to be fancy, add fruit, coconut flakes, cacao nibs, chocolate chips, vanilla extract, cinnamon, Greek yogurt, chia seeds — the list and potential combinations are endless.

5. Egg Muffin Sandwich

In a medium bowl, scramble whole eggs or egg whites with your choice of chopped up veggies (I've done a combination of red and green bell peppers, spinach, tomato, and kale).

From there, take a muffin sheet, and spritz with cooking spray. Pour the mixture into each cup, filling only about three quarters of the way, so that the eggs have room to rise and won't spill over in the oven.

I like to sprinkle a bit of shredded cheese on top of half the muffins, just to allow my palette a little variety.

Cook at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 to 25 minutes, and let cool. Slip one egg cup in between an English muffin, and you've got yourself a super healthy and satisfying breakfast.

6. Baked Oats

Another whoops in the kitchen, this baked oats recipe is coming at you from a failed attempt at making homemade oatmeal bars.

In a medium bowl, combine one cup of oats, one cup of almond milk, finely chopped almonds, a generous sprinkle of cinnamon, and chunks of one skinless apple.

Allow the mixture to set for 10 minutes before scooping it onto a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and cooking at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.

Halfway through, I took the mixture out of the oven and topped it with a crumbles of a peanut butter Perfect Bar, but you could also drizzle on any nut butter, as well.

Let it cool before scooping into a container and storing in the fridge.

This is really easy to heat up at the office the next day and, trust me, it smells delightful — so much so that coworkers will ask if that's what's on the menu in the cafeteria today.

7. Avocado Toast

There's no shame in your avo-toast game! Bring it to the office, and show 'em how it's done.

Toast one or two pieces of bread at the office, and spread on half of an avocado. Sprinkle with hemp seeds, add slices of grape tomato, or even a hard boiled egg.

This option's super easy because everything can be transported in a baggie and constructed right at your desk.

8. Chia Seed And Berry Pudding

I recently came across this recipe while watching Boho Beautiful vlogs on YouTube.

A similar concept to overnight oats, chia seed pudding is literally made in your sleep.

In a food processor, combine your favorite frozen fruit (I suggest giving mango-raspberry a try) with a cup or so of almond milk.

In a to-go container, pour in the mixture and add a few tablespoons of chia seeds. Let it set overnight, and add toppings like cacao nibs, banana slices, or coconut flakes in the morning at your desk.

It honestly tastes like dessert, but instead, it's packed with health benefits like protein, healthy fats, and natural sugars.

9. Banana Waffle Breakfast Sandwich

I can totally sympathize if some days, you just want something sweet for breakfast.

Thankfully, frozen waffles are here to save the day as they, too, can be prepared à la microwave oven.

Wrap one or two (thawed) frozen waffles in paper towel, and cook in the microwave for 30 to 45 seconds. Continue heating in 15-second intervals until fully cooked.

Cut up one whole banana, and sandwich the slices between the waffles.

If you're in dire need of extra sweetener, scour your office kitchen for honey packets. Drizzle one packet over the banana/

I dare you not to inhale this whole thing in under a minute.

9 Foods That Will Actually Last All Week For Your Meal Prepping Needs

$

I know the story all too well, friends: Monday rolls around, and life hits you fast and hard.

Work responsibilities take precedence over sitting down for a full meal, social gatherings request your attendance late into the evening, and by the time you've checked everything off the to-do list, you have very little time to whip up dinner, let alone a decent breakfast or lunch for the following day.

Enter: the art of meal prepping.

I know the term plays over and over on your news feed like a broken record, but the technique is trendy because it actually works.

The trick is to find foods you can make Sunday and eat through Friday, without spending extra time in the kitchen during the week.

Here are nine foods you can prep Sunday, and still enjoy through Friday, just by storing them in the fridge.

1. Roasted Sweet Potato

Lazy Girl's Guide To Eating Healthier

Once I decided it was high time to advance my cooking skills, the first thing I did was roast vegetables in bulk.

My favorite to snack on? Sweet potato everything.

Roast or bake a few orange spuds with seasonings like sea salt, pepper, chili powder, or cinnamon, all of which will guarantee a ton of flavor.

Add them to your dinner recipes, freeze a few in a ziplock baggie for smoothies, or pile on top of Greek yogurt for a sweet, nutrient-dense breakfast.

2. Hard-Boiled Eggs

Me Trying To Meal Prep

Eggs are versatile AF, and super affordable, which make them a prime component to any meal prep routine.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil, and gently drop the eggs in, bringing the water to a simmer.

After 15 minutes, transfer the eggs into an ice bath for five minutes before storing them in a bowl, or back into the carton in the fridge. Keep them in the shell to ensure they won't spoil.

Slice them up, and add to avocado toast, salads, grab one or two for an on-the-go breakfast option, or make egg salad for easy sandwiches.

3. Roast Chicken

Chicken can get old real fast.

To save a little time, buy a rotisserie chicken from your local grocery store, cut and separate into portions to pair with vegetables, make chicken tacos, add to salads, and more.

Note that chicken will spoil in the fridge after about three or four days, so to guarantee meals for each day of the week, freeze Thursday through Friday's portions to keep the protein fresh.

4. Oatmeal

Ridiculous Body Trends Demonstrated Through Food

Unlike hot cereal that takes a decent amount of time to prepare in the morning, overnight oats cook while you snooze, and you can either heat them up in a container at the office, or eat cold anywhere, anytime that's convenient for you (i.e. if you have to take bites in between applying makeup at your bathroom sink, you do you).

Using a one-part oats, one-part liquid base method, you can double or even triple the recipe to last you all week long.

Simply separate into travel-friendly containers, and add toppings like frozen fruit, coconut, granola, and nut butters in the morning.

5. Bananas

Why You're Constantly Late

High in potassium, vitamin C, and magnesium, bananas are a highly nutritious, super delicious staple in the world of meal prepping.

Buy a bundle, and separate each individual fruit.

Personally, if I'm buying five bananas for the week, I like to freeze two to three for smoothies or a naturally sweet, frozen treat to curb afternoon cravings, and store the rest either in a fruit bowl on the kitchen counter, or in the fridge for banana and nut butter sandwiches, or to top dry cereals and oatmeal.

6. Kale/Spinach

To my SO's dismay, leafy greens are an essential in my fridge.

They're nutrient dense and easy to utilize for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so he can suck it.

Freeze these babies for green smoothies, toss into omelettes, egg muffins, wraps, or use as a base to make hearty salads throughout the week.

The only grunt work you'll need to endure is giving each bushel a quick rinse on Sunday night so you don't have to worry about washing later on in the week.

7. Bone Broth

Unless you've been living under a rock over the past few months, or just neglecting your Instagram feed, bone broth is a hot commodity as of late, and it's high time you hopped on the bandwagon.

If you've got a full Sunday to spare, it's pretty easy to make your own, but if not, brands like Bonafide Provisions offer a frozen alternative, while Vital Proteins recently released its collagen bone broth in powder form for a quick meal that only requires you to add boiling water.

8. Frozen Fruit

How Plated Built A Business Off Of Convincing People To Cook

A must-have any time of year, frozen fruit lasts longer than the apples and bananas you've got sitting pretty in a bowl on your dining room table, and even taste better in my opinion.

If you're big on smoothies, divide and conquer come Sunday evening by separating different combinations into plastic baggies so you have a selection of pre-made smoothies to drop into the blender.

If liquidized breakfasts aren't your forte, drizzling almond milk over frozen berries is a deliciously chilled wakeup treat, while tossing a few over Greek yogurt makes for a healthier dessert option.

9. Chopped Meat

Another great source of protein with an extended shelf life, cook the beef with a combination of spices. and store in a sealed-tight container.

Reheat in the microwave or over the stove throughout the week to top salads, stuff tacos, make meat sauce, and more.

One large batch should last you a week but, like chicken, it's advised that you freeze anything you plan to eat after Thursday.

Happy meal prepping!

Holy cannoli! We've discovered a mystical answer to your favorite Italian dessert, and it's even more enticing than a pot of gold.

All thanks to Gelso & Grand, a creative New York City-based restaurant, we've been introduced to the “Unicornolli,” which is basically a magical upgrade on the staple cannoli we've all grown to love.

The rainbow treat is filled with funfetti cake and homemade buttercream, and is and topped with lavander macaroons, graham crackers, and colorful sprinkles. It's certainly a mystical dessert if ever there was one.

Courtesty of Gelso & Grand

Though I'm an Italian girl who grew up eating the classic treat every holiday, I am certainly not one to complain if my relatives brought a “unicornolli” to our Fourth of July BBQ.

Oh, did I mention that the selection also features a dusting of 24-karat gold on its shell? Not that you needed any further convincing, but this cannoli is kind of a big deal.

The New York City-based restaurant — which features dishes like wild mushroom pizza, brown butter gnocchi, and a variety of interpretations on the classic bruschetta — recently gained a lot of attention for its bright and whimsical dessert, rightfully so.

It's gorgeous, TBH.

But if you're someone with a sweet tooth who'd rather not give in to the rainbow and unicorn food trend, you can take comfort in the fact there's an extra factor to appreciate about this order.

Hint: Did you notice the small “smash me” sign protruding from the cannoli?

The unicornoli comes with a unique utensil — a mini hammer — with a label that says “smash me,” so you can let out all your pent-up anger, making you feel tough and powerful before inhaling your colorful treat.

There's definitely no judgment here, folks. We'd smash one of those babies, too.

But the unicorn love doesn't stop there: You can also send your tastebuds on a magical journey with a slice of unicorn pizza, unicorn ramen, or unicorn macarons. The possibilities are endless, so don't be afraid to dream big. Your inner Lisa Frank obsession will thank you.

Plunge, a bar in New York City's Meatpacking District, is making summer a little sweeter with boozy popsicles that are available in three flavors: Coco Rose, Orange Pinot Gris, and Fruity Sangria. They're $10 each, which isn't too bad, right?

OK, so they're a little pricer than Mr. Softee, but let's be real: They're also a lot more delicious.

Instead of enjoying a frozen treat after your dip in the pool with friends, taste one of these pops in front of the New York City skyline and post a picture that is totally worthy of the ‘gram.

Let's face it: You've certainly grown and evolved since those childhood summers at home, so you have to take your snacking to the next level.

As lovely as these boozy ice pops look and taste, we totally understand that not everyone is located in New York City. If you can't get your hands on a pop-tail, never fear: We've got you covered.

How To Make Boozy Popsicles

Another New York City location, Tipsy Scoop, serves liquor-infused ice cream. You can visit the Tipsy Scoop site and have a pint sent your way.

Chips and dip are so passé when you have the option to indulge in rosé ice cream.

The boozy dessert is set to become a staple in all girls' nights going forward, so now you have the key to a successful night in. You're welcome.

Hands of a woman holding a strawberry-vanilla ice-cream cone.

Stocksy

A California-based ice cream shop called Smitten Ice Cream thought outside the box and decided to combine our favorite drink and our favorite dessert, and we certainly applaud its inventiveness.

The shop's signature ice cream base is combined with Scribe Winery's Una Lou Rosé to create Sonoma Rosé, and this mix is what sweet dreams are made of.

According to Cosmopolitan, the rosé-flavored dessert has an ABV of 3.5 percent, which means a scoop or two will definitely do the trick.

As an added bonus, there are hints of grapefruit and strawberry in each scoop, so your tastebuds are going to be extremely pleased.

For those of you not in California, Goldbely will ship five pints anywhere in the U.S., but it'll cost you ($109 to be exact).

East Coasters can take comfort in the fact that they also have the option to add a little pink wine to their sundaes thanks to the “barlour,” Tipsy Scoop.

Remember when we ranted and raved about the booze-infused desserts? Well, coming this July, Tipsy Scoop will offer Peach Frose Rosé in honor of National Ice Cream Month, and we're ready to start the celebration.

“Rosé is the drink of the summer, and frosé even more so now. We are so excited to create this beloved drink into a seasonal sorbet sundae that is as pretty as it is delicious and boozy,” Melissa Tavss, Tipsy Scoop founder, told Elite Daily.

Again, for those of  you ice cream and rosé lovers who cannot get to New York, Tipsy Scoop will send treats your way.

It's safe to say our favorite pink drink is having a moment, and you certainly won't hear any complaints from us. If you're more inclined to treat yourself to some chocolate, or perhaps a doughnut or cupcake, there is a rosé-flavored treat for you. Those with a sweet tooth will want to check out Sugarfina's rosé gummies, because it's the treat that will make Willy Wonka go berserk.

This time of year is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a light-flavored wine like rosé, and naturally, its beautiful tint just screams “summer.”

We hope your next girls' night is as sweet as your treats.

9 Delicious Ways To Sneak Turmeric Into Every Single One Of Your Meals

$

I've never been a huge fan of Indian food, so naturally, I was hesitant to give the turmeric craze a fair shot.

While I personally may not be that into its stand-alone taste (or the hard-to-wash golden stain it leaves on my fingers after I cook with it), there's no denying the spice's incredible health benefits.

So, yeah, I'd say I'm willing to put my taste buds on the line for a fair trial.

Fair warning, though: This ginger family relative has a distinct, mild taste that may not mesh well with your buds as a standstill component, but combining the spice with some of your favorite daily staples is a game-changer for your meals and your overall health.

Here are a few simple, delicious, kind-of-out-there examples of ways you can implement turmeric into any meal of the day.

1. Turmeric Poached Egg

My Instagram feed is swarming with food porn and recipe inspiration by the second, and when I saw these golden eggs on Jeannette Ogden's account, my jaw dropped, my mouth watered — it was a really attractive, but also brilliant “aha!” moment.

The best part? It's super simple to make.

Once you bring your water to a boil, stir in turmeric and vinegar before dropping in the goods, and you have yourself a golden egg for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

2. Turmeric Oats

Lazy Girl's Guide To Eating Healthier

Balance With B's chocolate indulgence is cleverly health-conscious.

Combining raw cacao powder with turmeric, coconut oil, ginger, cinnamon, and almond milk, your body will reap all the benefits of the Indian spice, while your taste buds endure a party of their own with every sip.

Cheers to that!

3. Turmeric Smoothie

The Minimalist Baker's carrot ginger turmeric smoothie just sounds so damn healthy, and I promise it's equally as delicious.

Thrown together using only seven ingredients — among them banana, pineapple, and lemon for a zesty combo — this baby is nutrient-dense and perfect for post-workout recovery.

4. Turmeric Roasted Vegetables

How Plated Built A Business Off Of Convincing People To Cook

Cauliflower rice works as either an afternoon or evening staple you can add to the side of almost any meal — soups, salads, tacos, you name it.

Sautée it with turmeric and accompanying spices, like garlic powder, for a savory dish that's both tasty and good for you.

5. Turmeric Chicken

I've eaten so much chicken during my life, it's a miracle I'm not sporting a beak and pair of wings by now.

So, as you can imagine, I get pretty bored of the dish every now and then. Spices aren't just suggested when it comes to making chicken — they're totally necessary to heighten the meal.

Recipe developer and The New York Times contributor Florence Fabricant came up with a golden curry marinade with turmeric, ginger, and scallions to upscale your average wing night, and it is absolutely to-die-for.

6. Turmeric Cauliflower Rice

Cauliflower rice can be an afternoon or evening staple to add to the side of almost any meal — soups, salads, tacos, you name it.

Sautée it with turmeric and accompanying spices like garlic powder for a savory dish that's tasty and good for you.

7. Turmeric Hot Cocoa

Balance With B's chocolate indulgence is cleverly health-conscious and yummy AF.

Combining raw cacao powder with turmeric, coconut oil, ginger, cinnamon, and almond milk, your body will reap all the benefits of the Indian spice, while your taste buds endure a party of their own with every sip.

Cheers to that!

8. Turmeric Taco Seasoning

Turmeric is far from a sweetening spice, so if you're on the hunt for a hint of zest to add to your #TacoTuesday, here's the solution.

Bridget Voorhees of Runner's Edge created this nutrient-enhanced taco seasoning made with turmeric, chili powder, garlic powder, and cumin that not only tastes good, but is also way better for you than store-bought mixtures.

9. Golden Milk Latte

What Happens To Your Body When You Stop Drinking Coffee

I recently tried Gaia Herbs' Golden Milk and was sold on this sweet-yet-savory blend of warm milk and body-nurturing spices.

The powder is 100 percent vegan-friendly, and free of gluten and GMOs. All you'll need to do is warm up a cup of your favorite animal- or nut-based milk, and add one teaspoon of the dry mixture.

Harmonizing turmeric root, dates, ashwagandha root, and vanilla bean in one scoop, it's anti-inflammatory, good for your gut, and a cozy alternative to coffee in the morning or an alcoholic nightcap.

9 Delicious Ways To Sneak Turmeric Into Every Single One Of Your Meals

7 Essential Items For When You're Trying To Meal-Prep Your Way Through The Week

$

I know I'm a foodie, so of course I'll say stuff like this, but I promise you, there is more to meal-prepping than cooking.

Since the technique spread over social media like wildfire, with bloggers and influencers swearing by its convenience, meal-prepping has become an art form, a process.

There are a number of components that can make or break your week that go way beyond grocery shopping and how to roast a large batch of vegetables.

So before you get started in the kitchen, take a few minutes to run through the following checklist.

These are seven key items to help you meal-prep properly, from deciding what produce to purchase, to storage containers and so much more.

1. Take Advantage Of The Multi-Spice

A three-pack of Trader Joe's multi-spice spices on Amazon

Amazon

Trader Joes 21 Seasoning Salute, $14, Amazon

Disclaimer: The spices that cleanse my palette won't necessarily do the same for you, so take this with a grain of salt (see what I did there?).

But with Trader Joe's all-inclusive shaker bottle (in which an impressive 21 herbs have somehow been combined without error), there's a good chance you and I can agree on its versatile purpose.

Ingredients include such yummy flavors as onion, black pepper, celery seed, cayenne pepper, parsley, basil, marjoram, bay leaf, oregano, thyme, savory, rosemary, cumin, mustard, coriander, garlic, carrot, orange peel, tomato granules, lemon juice powder, and oil of lemon. Is that enough for you?

Toss it over veggies, create a rub for meat or fish, and even sprinkle a little over scrambled eggs for added flavor.

The limit truly does not exist with how many uses you can come up with for this spice rack in a bottle.

2. Update Your A-List

A notepad to help you organize what foods you do and do not need as you're meal prepping for the week

Knock Knock

Knock Knock Stuff All Out Of Pad, $12, Amazon

The key to meal prepping is knowing what you have, and what you still need to purchase for the week.

Make a date with your kitchen, and keep it, either the day before or day of grocery shopping.

Sift through your cabinets and figure out what kind of meals you can create with what you've been storing, and what you still need to buy.

Be sure to chuck anything old, expired, or items you know you won't eat (remember that canned goods can be donated!).

Once you have a better idea of what you'll be making within the next week, make a detailed list, divided by food pyramid credentials or day of the week.

The All Out Of Pad makes organization so much easier, and it'll also save you time at the store, because rather than weaving in and out of aisles searching for this item or that one, everything is separated by produce, protein, dairy, etc. so you can grab it all in one shot.

3. Organize On-The-Go

A green and white Amazon to-go lunch container to make meal prepping easier

Amazon

Bentgo All-In-One Stackable Lunch/Bento Box, $15, Amazon

No doubt you've seen these babies floating around your office.

Bento boxes are the trendy, adult version of the zip-up bag you toted around grade school, except much more chic, and way more durable.

Made microwave-, freezer-, and dishwasher-safe with only food-grade materials for safer, healthier storage, each Bentgo box includes a set of one fork, knife, and spoon.

These are excellent for anyone who packs large lunches, or a number of miniature meals throughout the day.

Relish in the fact that you won't be that jerk coworker taking up all the room in the office refrigerator.

4. Pencil It In

A black food journal on Amazon to help make meal prepping easier

Amazon

Book Factory Food Journal, $7, Amazon

I live for organization.

Ask anyone, and they'll tell you that choosing my planner each year is a process, and I have high expectations for the little extras it should entail (a notes section, as well as a boxed calendar sheet, and stickers are a huge plus).

Food journaling often proves to be an even bigger project for me.

It's not complicated to wing it in the kitchen if you have your weekly staples down to a science, but for new recipes or goals, it's helpful to have a written aid on hand.

Book Factory's Food Journal is affordable, its structure is easy to digest, and by dividing meals by food item and nutritional value, it can even double as a shopping list.

5. Compartmentalize

A large set of Pyrex glass containers on Amazon to help with meal prepping

Amazon

Pyrex 18 Piece Simply Store Food Storage Set, $30, Amazon

Containers are an absolute priority when it comes to meal-prepping.

Not only will the type of storage you choose determine how fast your food will spoil, but it'll also define your individual fridge aesthetic (which, in my opinion, is super exciting as a self-proclaimed foodie).

I have a few Pyrex containers, and I honestly just love the look and feel of them. The glass is sturdy, easy to clean, and looks so fresh on the shelves of my fridge.

6. Divide Pretty

A clear glass Ikea jar for meal prepping needs

Ikea

Korken Glass Jar With Lid, $4, IKEA

Thanks to my Pinterest-inspired dream kitchen and blogger Lee Of America's pantry, I recently purchased a few mason jars to organize my cabinets and refrigerator shelves for a minimalist-meets-hipster aesthetic.

Yes, I do feel cool filling them up with seeds and snacks and berries.

No, this isn't just a decorating tactic.

Available in a range of sizes, these glass jars are just as cheap as they are chic, so stock up.

7. Keep Tabs On Your Favorites

Feedly.com Account, free, Feedly

It's easy to fall into a meal prepping lull where you're almost robotically making the same meals over and over again.

It's important to have your staples (fruits you enjoy most, veggies you love, and ones you'll tolerate), but food is meant to be enjoyed every time you eat it! Do your research, and bookmark websites and blogs that pique your palette's interest.

Feedly is a customizable news feed where all of your favorite websites and blogs are at your disposal in a single tab, divided by interest.

Dedicate a portion to food resources for recipe inspiration, spice recommendations, and more to browse through come Saturday evening when it's time to make that week's shopping list.

It's helpful, and it keeps cooking fun (because the truth is, it isn't always a picnic).

Summer is cause for celebration, and Starbucks is getting in on the festivities with an exciting perk.

The company knows there's no better way to welcome the season than with a cool drink, so it's only fitting that the coffee giant is giving customers a chance to score a free iced espresso.

Yes, folks, you heard that correctly — free.

Starbucks

If you're in need of an afternoon pick-me-up before a meeting, head to your local Starbucks to get your free iced espressos. You'll be glad to have that nice, cool jolt of energy before your boss puts you to sleep.

In order to get your treat, here's what you need to know: June 27 through July 2, participating Starbucks locations will allow those who purchase a grande iced espresso from 2 to 5 p.m. local time a chance to get a complimentary second iced espresso beverage of equal or lesser value.

It's double the cool.

Some customers have a go-to order, but others like to mix it up — and now you have the opportunity to do both.

If you can't part ways with your Iced Caffè Americano, but you're curious about the Iced White Chocolate Mocha, now is your chance to be extra indulgent. It's summer, baby. Time to live it up!

Starbucks

For those of you who want something tropical and fruity instead of coffee when the heat strikes, Starbucks has you covered.

Following Lady Gaga's Cups of Kindness campaign — which features the delightful new Matcha Lemonade and the Violet Drink — new frappuccinos over ice feature real fruit. We weren't kidding when we said they were summer in a cup.

For the tangy and playful options, you can give either the Berry Prickly Pear Frappuccino Crème or Mango Pineapple Frappuccino Crème a go. No judgment here if you're not in the mood for espresso.

Don't change your mind after July 2, though, because that's your final chance to participate in the double espresso goodness.

If there's one “sport” I take seriously, it's walking… to the nearest brunch spot for some carbs and cream cheese.

Savory omelettes, dishes that are mistaken for desserts, and good old-fashioned bagels are the key to my heart on Saturday mornings.

So naturally, when I found out a cream cheese speciality shop was slated for a summer opening, I made a beeline to the freezer to ensure my favorite bagels (cinnamon raisin) were ready for the occasion.

Becky's bites in someones hand stacked up cream cheese desserts

Bagels are as essential to New Yorkers as water, it's no surprise the cream cheese-lovin' shop is headed for the East Village. Becky's Bites, we welcome you with open arms and hungry stomachs.

Founder Becky Rosenthal is just as excited to spread the love as we are.

“Our menu offers everything in bite-sizes, which makes it a perfect treat for sharing or even being able to experience different flavors or desserts all in one sitting,” Rosenthal tells Elite Daily. “How many times have you gone to a restaurant and wanted just a bite of everything on the menu?”

When you visit, get ready for an assortment of cream cheese to put on your bagels, parfaits, and cookie sandwiches. Coffee runs through every Manhattanites' bloodstreams, so Becky's Bites will also treat us to a dose of caffeine. The assortment of cream cheese from the shop is all hand crafted in New York's Hudson Valley.

“We want people to feel welcomed and nostalgic, connecting to a modern but retro spin on the Dairy Farm and cream cheese being an important staple of every household,” Rosenthal added.

What's even better is that we're going to be in for a taste of the unexpected, since the inspiration behind the shop came from Becky's creation of the chocolate-dipped cream cheese bites.

“The first Becky's Bites, which were chocolate-dipped cream cheese based treats, happened completely by happenstance,” Rosenthal admits. ”

She also tells Elite Daily,

One night I was playing around in the kitchen looking for something quick, bite-sized, and delicious and created these treats that were so unique that they even took me by surprise! It wasn't until a few years later that my husband and business partner, Richard, and I saw the true potential of the product — the flavored spreads.

There's certainly a lot to look forward to besides the chocolate-dipped cream cheese, though.

“Our tiny tarts, mini cookie sandwiches, and dipped chocolates all with our fun and unique cream cheese spreads gives you the opportunity to [try everything],” Rosenthal said. “We are also putting our own twist on beloved classics like s'mores with chilled toasted marshmallow and chocolate chip cream cheese and, of course, graham crackers to dip, as well as childhood favorites like our “Beckaroos” (which is a play on Dunkaroos).”

However, if you want to visit, you'll have to wait until later this summer for a grand opening.

While you're in the neighborhood, there are plenty of other speciality stores in New York that you can sink your teeth into, like the first-ever avocado bar, the ice cream shop dedicated to edible cookie dough, or the ice cream barlour that serves up liquor-infused sundaes.

New Yorkers dream big, especially when it comes to food, so there's no telling what exactly you're in for when you walk down the street. Either way, we'll see you on the cream cheese line.

NASA Confirms Space Rosé Could Be A Thing, Gives Everyone Hope Post-Earth

I am not a person who does well in extreme temperatures. And over a recent scorcher of a weekend in late June, with the temperature reaching triple digits, I really struggled. It's not supposed to be this way, I thought as I stood in front of the open freezer.

While I tried to deal with the sense of impending doom that could only come from the catastrophic increase in atmospheric carbon, I took solace in two things: cold showers and chilled wine. Especially the wine.

God bless wine.

While we might be past the point of no return when it comes to climate change, the good folks at NASA have just announced that we'll still be able to enjoy a nice glass of rosé when we're all living in lunar colonies and privatized space pods.

So who cares if we screwed up the one planet we had? This will be us in mere decades:

Gizmodo interviewed principal investigator for NASA's Vegetable Production System Gioia Massa on the possibility of cultivating wine in space.

The results are bold, smooth, and electric, with just a hint of pucker:

Most plants for space are super compact, but if you had vines that you could coil or clip a larger plant might be an option. Getting light to a sprawling vine is definitely a challenge … you would want very compact varieties.

China also sent cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and pinot noir vines into space to see how they'd do in a microgravity climate, but we're still anxiously awaiting the results.

Okay, so technically we're not at space wine level yet. While NASA isn't exactly cultivating grape vines at the International Space Station, they are slated to experiment with tomato plant pollination next year. And if that's successful, the same process could be applied to grape vines.

So, as the bees die off, leaving us to try alternative pollination methods, seriously alter our diets, and eventually buy stock in NASAFoods, Inc., winos will be like:

The news has some people stoked for the future:

While thinking about floating around in zero-g, enjoying quivering globules of wine does make the possibility of a climate apocalypse a little more palatable, we could also, I dunno, try saving the planet?

Because if scheduling brunch with friends is a pain to manage now, I can't imagine what it'll be like if one of us is on Mars while the rest live on the Moon.
